Drug abuse and then another fire

Substance abuse has become a real problem for Bhutan and the only rehabilitation centre in Serbithang established by the Youth Development Fund can accommodate just 12 addicts, reports BBS in its 28 February news, Drug users on rise, more rehab centres needed.

Where have we gone wrong? Is the problem with the youth? The government? The education system? Our family system? The time? Western influence? Television? Internet?

The report concludes,

The professional counselors say society, parents and teachers can do a lot in preventing the youth getting from getting hooked to drugs and alcohol. Addicts say if their rights and needs are looked into time, and fear and pressure gets replaced by trust and confidence many can be saved from doing drugs.

Yes indeed.

In the meanwhile, another fire! This time at Paro.

Fire razes a bungalow to the ground, damages two other (BBS)
